Long answer - ProTools not only needs to see either Digi or M-Powered compatible M-Audio hardware in order to run the application, it will also only record/play audio through that particular interface. So in terms of having the Transit there to make PT happy but using the i88x as your primary audio interface, well that's ain't gonna happen. The only way to use non-Digi/M-Audio hardware with ProTools is to essentially cascade the other interface's output into your PT-compatible interface's input, and vice versa. Many people do this as Digi's pres and converters usually aren't the bees knees sonically, and thus get a better a preamp/converter and take its digital out into your PT interface's digital in.
