This unit has received very favorable review from the Absolute Sound and deserves every bit of it. This player is based around the latest Sony DSD decoder and latest Sony SACD transport. Digital and analog power supplies are entirely separate, with separate transformers, which is unheard of at this price. Unlike players based on the Phillips transports, disc reading time is a low 10-15 sec on either CD or SACD.
Player offers a choice of either CD layer or SACD layer playback on hybrid discs (on remote). A lot of attention was paid to the I/V conversion, where the player uses audiophile grade op-amps.

Solid state output is handled by audiophile grade op-amps as well, tube output uses a pair of 6922s, augmented by 12AU7 regulation. Currently, the player is fitted with Electro Harmonix cryogenically treated tubes with low hours. Additionally, Herbie's tube damping instruments are used. The player was purchased directly from the Chinese factory 2 and 1/2 years ago through Nysound. It is a 220-240 volt unit and comes with a custom 1000VA toroidal transformer in a separate enclosure with standard IEC input connector and standard American output jack, so you can use high quality cables in both directions.
The converter is completely quiet and cool running, as well as good looking. The unit comes with a very nice quality metal body remote control, which is pristine. The following modifications have been performed: 1. Stock feet were replaced with DH cones on DH squares for added low end definition and overall detail. Internal circuit board fan that helps to cool the DSD chip has been disconnected; low-profile heatsink was attached to the chip. This is very similar to the modification that Cayin/Europe does for their customers who are sensitive to fan noise.
The player has performed flawlessly with this modification, even during summer days when air conditioner was not on. The new owner can reconnect the fan (simple jack on the circuit board), but it is really not needed with the heatsink. With this modification, the player is superbly quiet, both electrically and mechanically. Wide strip of Isodamp 125 from Percy Audio Lab was attached to the underside to damp out the chassis. It is very neatly applied, but can't be seen anyway. The player performs WAY above it's weight (it is a hefty 35 lbs) on SACDs (among the best there is says Absolute Sound - review on cayinusa) and is more than capable on CDs. I found that with the right tubes (Cryoset, in my opinion), the player gains both dynamics and detail on CD, making it an outstanding overall performer.
The build quality of this player is at least as good (and probably better) than many Western high-end brands. This player has consistently and reliably played every CD (including CD-Rs), SACD and hybrid disc I have. This player can integrate well into both tube and solid state high end systems.
